All her upper teeth pulled out.?

so my mom got all her upper teeth pulled out and now she has dentures. this happened monday now its friday. she wants to know how long it will take to heal. and also it hurts to put the dentures in, why?? the doctor said to have them on during the day and at night off but she cant put them on because of all the pain when she trys. please help
